About the Gallway Theatre Festival

Galway Theatre Festival is a not-for-profit, curated event. The Festival is committed to providing a platform for aspiring theatre companies, with particular emphasis on local, independent theatre. In its short history Galway Theatre Festival has presented several Irish & world premiers and strongly encourages new writing.
The Festival will provide theatre practitioners with some administrative and technical support. Galway Theatre Festival offers a 60/40 split in favour of the artist, and does not charge a registration fee.
Galway Theatre Festival aims to produce an event that is equally accessible to both audience and artists.

Galway Theatre Festival takes place from October 25th – 31st 2010.

Note for potential companies

This year's Festival will culminate in a Halloween themed evening featuring Stand-Up Theatre and a closing event. Unique to Galway Theatre Festival, Stand-Up Theatre features a host of actors/companies who introduce individual scenes or extracts  from  established plays personally selected by themselves. This is an opportunity for performers to present their personal favourites and to share the context of their choice with the audience. We encourage companies involved in the Festival to partake in Stand-Up Theatre so all applicants should take this into consideration. This year's Stand-Up Theatre will feature pieces in the spirit of Halloween.
