Colorado State University Extension, in partnership with Town of Frisco, CO, brings you a public art outreach event never before seen in Summit County.
The inaugural Beetle Blockers "Beetle Art" public art event will showcase seven fiberglass beetle sculptures, adorned by winning artists, to be displayed in Frisco, CO, in front of sponsoring businesses throughout the summer of 2011.
Artists are invited to submit a 2-dimensional proof of concept. Submissions must be no larger than 14" x 17" and artists are asked to incorporate the theme "Look to the Future".
A panel of judges will select seven artists to transform their 2-dimensional submission into 3-dimensional renderings upon a 32"x 20"x 15" fiberglass beetle shell.
Each of the seven winning pieces of art will appear on one of the fiberglass beetle shells, with monetary awards going to the top three designs. $2000 in prize money. No entry fee.
