Durham, NC – The American Dance Festival (ADF) is pleased to announce a call for submissions for the 16th Annual International Screendance Festival. Directed by Emmy nominated director, dance filmmaker, and curator, Douglas Rosenberg, the International Screendance Festival was created as a platform to showcase recent developments in the field, as well as historically relevant work.

All entries will be adjudicated by a panel of filmmakers and choreographers, and selected works will be screened during the 2011 ADF season (dates TBA). The ADF International Screendance Festival seeks work of high artistic quality that may inspire new ways of thinking about dance and its relationship to the screen. Certificates of Distinction may be awarded to works of exceptional merit.
The ADF has been a pioneer in the screendance field since the early 1970’s, holding the first “Dance for Television” workshops in 1973, and has consistently investigated the relationship between dance and screen media, including through the production of the Emmy award-winning documentary series Free to Dance, which aired nationally on PBS in 2001. Over the last 16 years the ADF’s International Screendance Festival has screened more than 300 dance films by filmmakers from over 20 countries, to audiences from all over the world.
