The shortest fundraisers are the best

Hey Ululers !

You already know that the shortest jokes are the best and that all things small are cute... Well, that also goes for fundraising on Ulule!

At first you might think that the longer a campaign is, the more chance it will have of being seen by internet users and funded. But the facts speak for themselves: the rate of success for fundraisers longer than 70 days is a lot lower than than those fundraisers which are shorter.

But how is this? Our specialist researchers in crowfunding (us) have done some thinking.

From the project owners perspective…

For the project to succeed, it’s no secret, the creator must be active for the duration of the campaign and therefore obviously it’s easier to do this if the fundraising period is shorter. Emailing, being present on social networking sites, promotion events, word of mouth, you know the deal (Vox is full of advice on the subject ) but what people think less about is responding to emails of encouragement, to comments and mentions on blogs, Facebook and Twitter.

The list is far from exhaustive. Your Ulule fundraising requires a certain number of small tasks which can be incredibly time consuming. If you have life alongside it with friends, a job and everything else, it’s simple , you can’t be effective for the entire time.

For fundraisers that are too long, it’s clear: the project will become buried in the maze of your mind and soon the project will be on its way out….Good luck!

From the supporter’s perspective…

They receive a great project, they explore it,  an image pops into their head of their  accountant sighing at their spending…but then they see that the project doesn’t finish for another few weeks(or even months).

“Ohhh well that’s fine then! I’ve got time! I’ll do it next week/ the beginning of next month/never (delete as appropriate)”

The result of all this procrastination? It is forgotten…and it is one less contribution for the project.

Still sceptical?

Cast an eye over these beautiful examples :

  •  Twice Out of Paradise : financed in 16 days!
  •  1000 miles : financed in 13 days (they asked for 45 days and then had the chance to completely surpass his goal)
  • UMP Universal Flowchart financed in 3 days (whilst this may not happen for everyone it proves that it can happen really quickly)
  • Victorine in 7 days (and having asked for 60 days, was very impatient at having to wait out the remaining 53 days )
  • PV Nova financed in 2 hours!

The website is not lacking in examples...

I’ll stop there (a short version since that’s the theme!) Each new project published on the platform teaches us how best to do things and the more that this wise owl learns the more she wants to share her wisdom!

Speak soon Ululers!
